Ellipse
when: fall 2019
duration: 15 weeks
programs: Ai, Ps, Id
skills: editorial design, print production, collaborative design
Ellipse Magazine is a student-run collaborative project between senior designers and photographers at RIT, overseen by two faculty members. Over the course of a semester, we all worked together on creating stories, capturing images, and raising funds to get the magazine printed.
In addition to creating spreads, I had the role of Lead Production Editor, so I was responsible for creating the master document. I also worked with the art and creative director to discuss print production with the printing company we chose to print with.

Our Final Invention
This story was a combined effort of writing by myself and Kat Temple, design by myself and Kat, and photography by Analise Olszewski and Philomena Leavit. The basis surrounding it is to give an in-depth look at the future of technology, mainly artificial intelligence. The story shows both the positive and the negative views of AI, but it encourages that we accept it for what it is. The future is constantly changing and evolving, so why not go with it.
The Brilliance of Boredom
This story was written and photographed by Analise Olszewski and Kiana Manners and designed by myself and Liana Meisenzahl. It discusses how boredom can be a gift, and encourages that we allow ourselves to experience nothingness. In today's society, it is so easy to get caught up in the scrolling and the likes, so it is important that we take the time to step back and appreciate those brief moments of nullity.
oh fuck
I created this image to align with the concept of the spread that came before it, Terms & Conditions of Ellipse written by Clare Mahr. The story is written like any other terms and conditions page that everyone always skips over. However, if you read it, you'll notice how witty it is, and that the rules of our magazine are unlike any other.
